Engaging boys in reading and literacy remains one of today’s most complex educational challenges. Research proves that once boys fall behind in reading in the early years, it’s difficult to catch up, with deep-seated consequences throughout life. But new research also shows that boys have unique learning needs and preferences that, when appropriately addressed, can help them become life-long readers and learners. When reading includes active, challenging and physical dimensions, boys become deeply engaged as reading connects to other aspects of their lives. This 24-hour module uses guided experiences, classroom activities, selected readings, and an evaluation to help you create dynamic lessons that address core curricular goals and help the boys in your class to thrive. Certificate awarded upon successful completion of module.
