This course makes reference to two industry-recognized standards on which some of these best practices are based: the Operational Security Standard on Physical Security (OSSPS) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27002. While these are not mandatory standards that must be followed in order to remain compliant, these provide helpful baselines on which security and confidentiality practices should be based off. The Operational Security Standard on Physical Security (OSSPS) was developed by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, the administrative arm of the Treasury Board with a dual mandate to support the Treasury Board and fulfill responsibilities of a government agency. The OSSPS defines the physical security requirements for government facilities and provides recommended safeguards to protect government employees and government services and assets.
