TORONTO, ON November 30th, 2007. Learning Library, Canada’s leading elearning and education management firm, is playing an integral role in giving back to the community and assisting in the protection of our future by partnering with Child Find Canada.
“We are honoured to be in partnership with such generous contributors to a good cause. People rely on each other for support and this is the type of support that we need to fulfill our ultimate responsibilities to the children. Sabine Steinbrecher has been incredibly charitable towards Child Find Canada and we look forward to building a strong relationship.” Says Trish Derby, Executive Director of Child Find Ontario.
“Learning Library has always been very supportive of giving back to the community,” said Sabine Steinbrecher, Learning Library Inc., CEO and Founder. “These are significant and important initiatives and we are hoping our contributions will be recognized and matched by others. In total, we are contributing over $200,000 to this program and we are very excited to partner with the leading child safety organization to deliver these innovative programs.”
Child Find Canada is the oldest, largest and most comprehensive missing children’s agency in Canada. The organization has been assisting in the recovery of missing children for over 20 years through proactive public education and prevention program development.
Through a partnership with the Learning Library, Child Find is launching a pilot project in May of 2008 geared directly at public online education. The first program is an interactive 3D child safety game to be followed soon after by an innovative “Child Safety Certification” program that will provide teachers, daycare professionals, babysitters, coaches and anyone else who shares responsibility over a child the knowledge they need to make better informed decisions about child safety. The programs to be launched online and widely available and will aid greatly in child safety and awareness.
Ultimately the goal is a multi-year program in association with the Learning Library that will grow into a platform for child safety education internationally, as well as other combined programs such as Kid Check and Street Proofing. A new web resource, new training platforms, online games and other elements are currently under development.
Prevention is the greatest key that parents and child caregivers may possess and a large library of safety tips is available on the Child Find Ontario website at www.ontario.childfind.ca/safetytips.html
Child Find is not a government-funded organization and relies on the generosity of corporate and individual sponsorship to maintain its high quality of public education and awareness. It is through this generosity that Child Find Canada as a whole retains a 95%-98% retrieval rate for missing children across Canada. Annually (as of 2005) 66,000 children are reported missing, 22,503 of which are reported in Ontario. Child Find assists in offering parental support during these difficult times as well as taking proactive action by advertising through print media.
Learning Library will continue to support and build upon these programs to help make every child’s future, a safe one.
