Overview
The author, Jayne Pilot, developed a `Three Step Process – Identify, Insure, Improve` TM in 1995 for implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS) to International Standards – ISO 14001. This course relates to the first step in implementation - `Identify,` covering the identification of legal and other requirements to the ISO standard. Upon completion of this course, participants will understand a procedure to follow to identify legal requirements.
This course is part of core training for individuals wishing to become environmental auditors, covering the ISO 14001 standard model requirements for `Planning` an EMS. The whole series of courses are over 24 hours in instruction and workshop exercises for ISO 14001.
Course Description: This course covers identifying the key legal areas to manage in an organization for its EMS. The program provides reference to a procedure to follow and examples of key regulations in Canada, US and Europe.
Learning Outcomes: Conducting a review of an organization’s legal requirements is one of the key steps in planning an environmental management system. The course will review legislative requirements, regulatory mechanisms, environmental compliance and penalties. It will provide you with steps to follow in identifying legal requirements for an organization.
