Overview
The author, Jayne Pilot, developed a “Three Step Process – Identify, Insure, Improve” TM in 1995 for implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS) to International Standards – ISO 14001.This course will cover the second step in implementation - “Insure” and the tasks required.
Upon completion of this course, participants will understand what is required by the standard for implementation and operations and checking and corrective action for an EMS.
This course is also core training for individuals wishing to become environmental auditors, covering the ISO 14001 standard model requirements.
Course Description:
Insuring, steps in implementing an environmental management system. Course covers ISO 14001 Standard requirements for elements 4.4 Implementation and Operations and 4.5 Checking and Corrective Action, which includes the following: Structure and Responsibility, Training, awareness and competence, Communication, introduction to EMS Documentation and Document Control, Operational Control, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Monitoring and Measurement, Nonconformance and corrective and preventive action and Records.
Learning Outcomes:
This course covers insuring that an organization takes what it has identified in Step One “Identify” and puts in place the required documentation, implementation and operations, as well as the monitoring and checking and corrective actions to manage an environmental management system to the International Standard – ISO 14001. This step is referred to as step two “Insure”.
