Overview

Course Description:
This Course will focus on the differing learning styles that students may have, and the learning needs associated with these styles. Teachers, cognizant of the various learning styles and differing types of intelligence, make conscious decisions to ensure classroom experiences address students’ diverse approaches to learning. These decisions include the selection of appropriate resources and the opportunities provided so that students can effectively demonstrate their learning, as well as the teaching and learning activities and assessment practices. All of these factors contribute to increased student achievement by complimenting the ways students learn and by using them to the students’ advantage.

Learning Outcomes:
In this course you will:

  • Understand the different types of intelligence;
  • Recognise the various learning styles and intelligences of students in the classroom;
  • Critically examine present teaching practices for evidence that the different learning styles are being addressed;
  • Develop a lesson or series of lessons including teaching strategies to address the different learning styles;
  • Provide students with multiple opportunities to learn and demonstrate their knowledge, using your knowledge of their learning styles;
  • Help students understand their areas of strength and how they learn, to enable them to become life-long learners.
