Overall Program Description:


The diabetes level 1 certificate online program is based on current clinical practice guidelines and provides education on their practical application.  Delivered by a multidisciplinary faculty of experts in their respective fields, these clinicians will provide insight into the various treatment options and management for those living with diabetes.  The Drug Information and Research Centre is pleased to bring pharmacists quality education on this topic which affects over 2 million Canadians and is associated with significant individual and societal consequences.

The diabetes level 1 certificate program provides an overview of key topics that form the basis for understanding the diabetes, its treatment and overall management.  Listen as experts discuss the various aspects of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management that include lifestyle interventions involving diet and exercise.  There will also be a focus on the approach to the patient and their caregivers that take into consideration the importance of self-management and respects individual readiness for change.

This program is assigned 13 continuing education units (CEUs)
